GEAR UP for Your Future!

Students will travel to various colleges and universities to participate in hands-on activities and gain a deeper understanding of higher education. The trip will also allow students to explore campuses, providing them with firsthand experience and more options when choosing a college or university after high school graduation.

We plan to visit the following places:

• Virginia Union University
• Virginia Commonwealth University
• University of Mary Washington
• Howard University and the National African American Museum

Our objectives for this intercession are:

• To enhance the academic performance and postsecondary preparation of participating GEAR UP sophomore students, providing them with information on college fit and readiness.
• To raise educational expectations for participating students and increase student and family knowledge of postsecondary education options, preparation, and financing.
